Fern Marshall

Fern Marshall, 97, of Manilla died Friday, June 8, 2007, at her home. Born Aug. 18, 1909, she was the daughter of Walter H. and Bertha M. (Gahimer) Kuhn. She married Wilbur C. Marshall on May 26, 1928, and he preceded her in death on March 29, 1988. She later married Virgil T. Doles and he preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 1992. Survivors include her son, Richard K. (wife, Kathryn) Marshall of Shelbyville; daughter, Janet A. (husband, Ned) Cole of Columbus; grandchildren, Mark Lawson of Charleston, Sheila Marshall of Indianapolis, Sharon Scott of Orlando, FL, Susan Lee of Fort Wayne and Terry Cole of Rushville; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Maurice Kuhn and Irvin Kuhn; sisters, Frances Myer and Lois Branson; and grandson, Scotty Scott. Mrs. Marshall was a homemaker. She graduated from Moscow High School in 1927. Mrs. Marshall was a lifelong member of Zion United Church of Christ, the women's guild at the church and Merry Martha's Club in Rush County. Visitation will be from 4 - 6 p.m. Sunday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN. and from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Monday at the Zion United Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Mary Lundgren officiating. Interment will be in Zion United Church of Christ Cemetery in Shelby County.
