Fern “Shaw” Sheely, 89, Coloma, Michigan, passed away at Lakeland Medical Center, St Joseph, MI, on June 30th after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family. A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 PM on July 5th at the Freeman Family Funeral Home, Shelbyville, Indiana. Friends and family may visit from 10-12. Burial will be at Boggstown Cemetery.
Fern was born to Leo and Margaret Zike on March 23rd, 1929, and married Milton Shaw on January 28th, 1955. A beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Fern is survived children, Steve Shaw, Greenwood, Martin Shaw, Coloma, Paul (Sherrie) Shaw, Vassar, MI, Cindy (Gary) Wallis, St. Joseph, MI, Twyla Shaw, Manilla, IN, close family friend Ann Holtsclaw, sisters Juanita Moore and Suella Barto. She has thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Milton Shaw in 1995, son Landon Shaw in 2009, and grandson, Ryan Wallis in 2006. In January 2000 she married Kenneth Sheely, who preceded her in death in 2016.
She was a member of the Midway Baptist Church in Coloma, Michigan, past member of the Fairland Christian Church and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Fairland Indiana; she loved crafts and arts, sewing, crocheting and was an avid reader.
