Flora Jean Harper

Flora Jean Harper, 83, of Fairland passed away Saturday, December 17, 2011 at her residence. Born January 24, 1928, in North Vernon, she was the daughter of William and Louise (Andrew) Wettrick. Survivors include her son, Charles (wife, Alane) Harper of Mooresville; daughters, Patricia Chaney of Shelbyville and Kathy Harper of Fairland; grandsons, Luke (wife, Rachel) Harper, Jonathan Harper, Benjamin (wife, Michele) Harper and Jason (wife, Beth) Chaney; great-grandchildren, Hailey Harper, Blaze Harper, Allison Chaney, Adam Chaney and Aiden Chaney; and one nephew, Richard Wettrick. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother and brother, William Wettrick. Mrs. Harper had previously worked at the Shelby County Clerk's office and Hale Abstract, retiring in April of 2011. She graduated from North Vernon High School in 1945. Mrs. Harper enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and playing solitaire on the computer. She was a member of North Vernon Baptist Church. Mrs. Harper also leaves behind her beagle, Jake. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm, Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10 am, Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the funeral home, with John Hanson officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in North Vernon.
