Frances Gene Allender, 91, of Shelby County, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Major Hospital.
Born Aug. 20, 1915, in Shelby County, She was the daughter of Carroll S. and Janice Marie (Haehl) Pitts Sr. She married Claude G. Allender, and he preceded her in death in 1978.
Survivors include her sons, C. Richard (wife, Linda) Allender of Shelby County and Dan W. (wife, Judy) Allender of Manilla; granchildren, Carol (husband, Kevin) Valentine, Tammy (husband, Mark) Polston, Michelle (husband, Dave) Bruns, Jeff (wife, Dede) Allender, Sherry (husband, Mike) Rowland and Richard (wife, Patty) Allender; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gary Gene Allender; brothers, Carroll S. Pitts Jr., and John O. "Bud" Pitts; and sister, Janice A. Pitts.
Mrs. Allender was a homemaker and had been employed as a riveter in an airplane factory in Connersville during World War II.
She graduated from Manilla High School.
Mrs. Allender was a member of Little Blue River Friends Church.
No visitation is planned.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 23, in Little Blue River Friends Cemetery, Rush County.
