Frank L. Schonfeld

Frank L. Schonfeld, 79, of Fairland, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was born September 20, 1936, in Butlerville, the son of Chester and Helen (Weber) Schonfeld. On February 27, 1965, he married Roseann Reuter, and she survives. Frank is also survived by his sons, Frank J. Schonfeld and wife, Rebecca, and Brian Schonfeld and wife, Christy, both of Fountaintown, and Jeffrey Schonfeld and wife, Beth of Indianapolis; and grandchildren, Joshua, Ashley, Luke, Austin, Toby, Wyatt, Tyler and Brady. He was preceded in death by his parents. Frank graduated from Milroy High School in 1955. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Frank formerly worked as the administrative manager at REA Express, he also had worked at General Electric/Wellman, Northwestern Consolidated School and Indiana Downs. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a charter member of Moral Township Fire Department and Triton Lions Club. He was also a member of St. Joe Social Club and Shelby Senior Services. Frank was a 4-H leader in Rush and Shelby Counties and he served as a precinct committeeman. He loved the time he spent with his grandchildren. He enjoyed socializing with his many friends. Frank liked all animals and enjoyed the outdoors. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 15, 2016 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville, with the rosary recited at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St. in Shelbyville, with Father Aaron Pfaff officiating. Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shelbyville, with military graveside rites conducted by the local military committee. Memorial contribution may be made to Shelby Senior Services, 1504 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176 or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
