Freda Ann Weatherford, 73, of Shelbyville, passed away, Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Heritage House Convalescent Center in Shelbyville.
She was born December 8, 1939, in Willow Springs, Missouri, the daughter of Roy Lee and Opal Marie (Whited) Cox. Freda married Robert Carroll Weatherford, on October 21, 1960, and he preceded her in death on May 27, 1994.
She is survived by her daughter, Zonda (husband, Richard) Stead of Edinburgh; sisters, Bonnie (husband, Lloyd) Sticklin of Willow Springs and Linda (husband, Gerry) Elam of West Plains, Mo.; brothers, Gene (wife, Irene) Cox of Hermann, Mo., Sam Cox of Springfield, Mo. And Herb (wife, Sally) Cox of Hatfield, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Ella May (husband, Leland) Stephens of West Plains, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Freda was also preceded in death by her parents.
She graduated from Willow Springs High School in 1957.
Freda retired from Beatty Construction, where she was the administrative secretary, in 2004. She also served as a minister’s wife, fulfilling many duties, such as church secretary, Sunday school teacher, working with the youth and directing many Christmas programs.
She was a member of Bengal Christian Church.
Freda enjoyed ceramic design, playing the piano and spending time with her family and friends.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, November 11, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will follow at 7:30 p.m, at the funeral home, with Doug Adams and Russell Ross officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Willow Springs First Christian Church, 310 N. Center St., Willow Springs, Missouri. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church.
Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in West Plains, Missouri.
