Fredrick Vance Shelton, 91, of Waldron, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Major Hospital.
He was born December 10, 1925, in Shelbyville, the son of John and Mary Jane (Stewart) Shelton. He married Emma Grimes on June 28, 1947, and she preceded him in death on July 12, 2007.
Fredrick is survived by his daughters, Karen Phillips of Epworth, Georgia and Christina Ash and husband, Mark, of Waldron; sons, Fred Shelton and wife, Berdina, of Liberty, Kentucky, and Garry Shelton and wife, Diane, of Nebraska; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Francis Holmes; brothers, John Shelton Jr. and Earl Shelton; and a grandson, Christian Ash.
Fredrick graduated from Fairland High School in 1943.
He was a member of Waldron United Methodist Church.
Fredrick retired as an engineer at Indiana Gear Works in 1987, with over 40 years of service.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing and playing and watching basketball.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2017 at Waldron United Methodist Church, 202 W. Washington St. in Waldron.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the church, with the Revs. Fred Shelton and Marcy Patrick officiating.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
