Frieda Zeller

Frieda L. Zeller, 91, of Shelbyville passed away Sunday, January 20, 2008, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus. Born January 24, 1916, in Brooksburg, she was the daughter of Friedly and Mary Etta (Bliton) Elston. She married Harold Watts Zeller on February 21, 1937, and he preceded her indeath on January 5, 1991. Survivors include her sons, Ron Zeller of Roann and Steve Zeller of Dalton, Ga.; daughter Ann Severinghaus of Raleigh, N.C.; brother Robert C. Elston of Milroy; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Dorothy L. Page, Eleanor J. McLaughlin, Mary A. Ray and Kathryn F. Stuart; and brother Donald L. Elston. Mrs. Zeller lived most of her life in Shelbyville since 1929. She and her husband, were owners and operators of the Harrison Cafeteria from 1950 to 1975 and the former Alcazar. Prior to that she and her family owned the Vine Street Grocery. She had been a volunteer at Major Hospital for many years. Mrs. Zeller was a member of West Street United Methodist Church and Women's Society of Christian Service and former member of the Current Topic Club. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Carl Ewick and Perry Richards officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to West Street United Methodist Church 629 S. West St., Shelbyville, IN 46176; or Hospice of Shelby County, 110 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.
