Garnett E. "Brownie" Brown

Garnett E. "Brownie" Brown, 94 of Morristown passed away Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Morristown Manor. Born May 24, 1914 in Shelby County, Indiana to Wilbur M. and Opal F. (Nigh) Brown. He married Thelma V. Wilson on July 27, 1936, and she preceded him in death on August 6, 2008. Survivors include his daughter, Judi A. (husband, Calvin) Kennedy of Morristown; grandson, James Edward (wife, Julie) McMichael of Greenfield; granddaughter, Melissa (husband, Todd) Doane of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and two great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Brown owned and operated Brown's Poultry for 25 years from 1944 to 1969; after which he worked at the US Post Office from 1967 to 1978, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Morristown Masonic Lodge # 193; Commandry of Shelbyville; a fifty year member of both the 32 degree Masonic Lodge and the Murat Shrine Temple. Mr. Brown was a graduate of Morristown High School in 1932. He was a member of the Morristown Christian Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm, Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St., Morristown, Indiana. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Wednesday at the Morristown Christian Church, 209 S. Washington St., Morristown, Indiana. Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Morristown Christian Church, 209 S. Washington, Morristown, Indiana 46161
