Gary A. Vaught, 61, of Boggstown, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2014 in Franklin.
He was born February 15, 1953, in Shelby County, the son of Walter and Lois (Morgan) Vaught. He married Linda Vansickle on December 28, 1973, and she survives.
Other survivors include his sons, Greg Vaught and wife, Krystal, of Greenfield and Mike Vaught and wife, Amanda, of Boggstown; special daughter, Leslie Jean Asberry of Indianapolis; brothers, Steve Vaught and wife, Linda, of Fairland and David Vaught and wife, Robin, of Boggstown; grandchildren, Dakota Vaught, Adalyn Vaught, Landon Vaught and Mikayla Curry; father-in-law, Don Vansickle and wife, Jo, of Greenfield; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Virginia Vansickle; and special daughters, Sarah Tubergen and Kathryn Feuer.
Gary graduated from Triton Central High School in 1971 and received his bachelor’s degree in agriculture from Purdue University in 1975.
He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher, a deacon for 25 years and a greeter for 20 years.
Gary was a lifelong farmer and worked in the maintenance department at Nitrex of Indiana for the last 13 years.
He enjoyed target shooting, woodworking and farming.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville and from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Pleasant View Baptist Church, 12442 Southeastern Avenue, Acton, Indiana 46269.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, with Pastor Don Wells officiating.
Interment will be at Boggstown Cemetery in Boggstown.
Memorial contributions may be made in Gary’s memory to Pleasant View Baptist Church.
