Gary Lee Theobald, 59, of Manilla passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus. Born September 13, 1952, in Shelby County, he was the son of Norman and Elizabeth Ann (Ivie) Theobald. He married Judy McCormick on September 27, 1970, and she survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Dana Lynn (husband, Patrick) Theobald-Essex of Morristown; son, Bryon (wife, Stacy) Theobald of Morristown; brothers, Michael G. (wife, Deborah S.) Theobald and Tony A. Theobald, both of Shelbyville; sister, Teresa K. (husband, Tony) Putty of Shelbyville; the beloved grandfather of Collin Essex, Carson Essex, Camden Essex, Brandon Willey, Parker Theobald and Savannah Theobald; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother. Gary was formerly employed at Detroit Steel for over 25 years, and was currently the maintenance supervisor at Edgewater Apartments. He graduated from Morristown High School in 1970. Gary was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Bennett Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Educational Trust Fund for the grandchildren of Gary L. Theobald, in care of, Freeman Family Funeral Homes, 819 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
