Gaylord Clyde Cole

February 16, 1934 — October 18, 2013

Gaylord Clyde Cole, 79, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 at his daughter’s residence in Walkerton. He was born February 16, 1934, in Morristown, the son of Dillard and Nadine (Storie) Cole. On January 28, 1955, he married Mary Ellen Patterson, she preceded him in death on April 17, 2009. Gaylord is survived by his son, Kent (wife, Margretta) Cole of Shelbyville; daughters, Beverly (husband, Gregory A.) Williams of Walkerton and Diana Bannister of Morristown; brother, Arthur (wife, Marlene) Cole of Ocklawaha, Florida; sister, Joyce Crull of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Matt Cole, Cassie Harris, Tanya Cole, Savanna Bannister and Kristen Bannister; step-grandson, Adrian Williams; great-grandchildren, Maycee, Maya, Mylee, Thane, Weston and Gwyndalynn; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Juanita Besch. Gaylord graduated from Morristown High School in 1952 and Purdue University in 1956, later he received his Master’s degree from Purdue University. He was formerly a Vocational Agriculture Teacher, retiring from Mooresville High School in 1985. After retirement he farmed full time. Gaylord was a member of Liberty Methodist Church and the National Rifle Association. He was a shooting sport instructor, 4-H leader and FFA advisor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Concord Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared with the Cole family at www.freemanfamilyfuneralhomes.com.
