Genevieve "Jenny" Altha Foltz, 93, of Shelbyville passed away Saturday, December 18, 2010.
Jenny was born July 24, 1917, in Mooresville, Indiana to the late Floyd Onzo and Grace Amanda (Kemp) Stout. As a child she attended the Mooresville Friends Church, and graduated from Mooresville High School. Currently she is a member of the Little Blue River Baptist Church in Shelbyville, Indiana. Jenny married Kenneth "Bud" Seerley Foltz on February 18, 1939. They lived and farmed together in Valley Mills, Indiana until 1987 when they moved to Shelbyville.
Jenny joined Eastern Star in 1936 in Mooresville, and attended meetings for many years at the chapter in West Newton, Indiana. She was active in Decatur Township Ladies Aid and the Home Economics club. She had many close friends, and they enjoyed playing cards together. Jenny and Bud square danced for over 40 years which took them to many interesting cities such as Nashville, Tennessee, Washington, D.C. and the Great Wall of China. During retirement, she and Bud created fond memories from traveling within the US, Europe and the Far East; camping, fishing and riding their motorcycles with friends. She enjoyed traveling, was a good cook and loved having fun.
Jenny is survived by her son, Bob and his wife Bonnie Foltz of Shelbyville, who cared for and supported her; daughter, Nancy and her husband Bob Adams of Harbor Springs, Michigan; her grandson, Jason and his wife Traci Foltz of Shelbyville, and their children Jennah and Luke; her grandson Dan and his wife Jean Foltz of Shelbyville and his daughter Emily; her granddaughter-in-law, Lora of Carmel and her son Jack. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Lorene Stout of Indianapolis, and a close cousin, Margaret Harrington and her daughter Sandra Smith of California. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth "Bud" Foltz in 1988, her brother, Bernard Stout in 2004, and her grandson, John Robert Foltz in 2009.
Friends and relatives are welcome for visitation at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison Street from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday, December 21, 2010.
Funeral services will be 10 am Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the funeral home, with Pastor Bob Langdon officiating.
Burial will be in West Newton Cemetery in West Newton, Indiana.
