George J. Spurling

George J. Spurling, 75, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, October 07, 2017 at his daughter’s residence. He was born November 29, 1941, in Shelbyville, the son of George Alvin and Edith (Bright) Spurling. George is survived by his son, Chris W. Spurling of Shelbyville; daughter, Kathy M. Gore of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Britney, Haley, Kayla and Kylie; and great-granddaughter, Alyssandra J. Balldelli. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mandy J. Piercy; and five brothers and sisters. George retired from General Electric/Wellman in 2015, where he worked as a welder, foreman, supervisor and plant manager, with 49 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping. George was an Indianapolis Pacers fan. He was a member of Hoosier Trappers. Private family services will be observed. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
