Gertrude C. Sexton, 93, of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyville.
Born December 31, 1917, in Letcher County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Frank and Edna (Penny) Creekmore. She married Jack C. Sexton, and he preceded her in death after 45 years of marriage.
Survivors include her daughters, Martha I. Day of Indianapolis and Joyce Diane (husband, Larry) Southgate of Greenfield; sons, Kenneth (wife, Dorothy) Sexton of Shelbyville, Robert ?Bob? (wife, Twila) Sexton of Rockhill, South Carolina, Mitchell (wife, Melva) Sexton of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Donald (wife, Margie) Sexton of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; daughter-in-law, Laura Sexton of Indianapolis; numerous grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Jackie Sexton, Billy Sexton and Leroy Sexton; daughter, Patricia Ann Sexton; brothers, Floyd Creekmore and Johnnie Creekmore; sister, Irene Collier; and grandsons, Brian Southgate and Chris Branch.
Mrs. Sexton retired from Western Electric after 30 years of service.
She was a member of Cornerstone City Church in Indianapolis.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor James David Clayton officiating.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
