Gladys Leet, 95, of Columbus, a former Shelbyville resident, passed away Friday, March 4, 2011 at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.
Born June 22, 1915, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Albert and Martha (Clark) Osborne, and the last surviving of 13 children. She married Edward Leet on July 10, 1937, and he preceded her in death on January 3, 1979.
Survivors include her daughter, Kay (husband, Keith) McLeod of Nashville; grandchildren, Kevin McLeod of Shelbyville, Kyle (wife, Norma) McLeod of Columbus and Kelly (husband, Dan) Bowers of Edinburgh; great-grandchildren, Coleman McLeod, Marlee McLeod, Joseph Peters, Ian McLeod, Sydney Bowers, Aaron Bowers, Adam Bowers and Sarah Bowers; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Leet had been employed at Shelbyville Manufacturing Garment Factory for 40 years; owned the Schwinn Bicycle Shop for 20 years; and retired from Walmart as a greeter in 2003, after 15 years of service.
She had attended Shelbyville High School.
Mrs. Leet was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Columbus and the Pioneer Club in Nashville.
She enjoyed quilting and playing Bingo and cards, especially Euchre.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2 pm, Monday, March 7, 2011 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm, Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor John Armstrong officiating.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
