Gladys McKenney

Gladys McKenney, 92, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 at MHP Health Partners in Shelbyville. Gladys Marie Hodson was born June 7, 1925, in Shelby County, the daughter of Clarence E. and Elva (McCarty) Hodson. On November 30, 1945, she married her husband of 71 years, Ward Burton McKenney, and he preceded her in death on November 10, 2017. She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Tindall and husband, Jim, Molly McKenney, and Cynthia DeCamp and husband, Murry, all of Shelbyville; sons, Patrick B. McKenney of Anderson, Tim McKenney and wife, Gaye, of Shelbyville, Dennis McKenney and wife, Rachael, of Fort Collins, Colorado, Kevin McKenney and wife, Lori, of Selma, Erin McKenney and wife, Julie, of Zionsville, and Kelly McKenney and wife, Karla, of Indianapolis; son-in-law, Todd Kidwell of Michigan; brothers, Glenn Hodson and wife, Dottie, of Seymour, and Ted Hodson and wife, Linda, of Shelbyville; sisters, Betty Shelton of Rushville, and Phyllis Smith of Kingsland, Georgia; 29 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; son, Barry Douglas McKenney; and daughter, Sally Brigid Kidwell. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1943. Gladys was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church since 1945. She was employed at Shelbyville Schools and Shelby County Treasurers office, before retiring in 1986. Private family graveside services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shelbyville. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Association of Shelby County, PO Box 844, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176 or St. Joseph Catholic Church, 228 E.
