Gladys (Lancaster) Tillison King, 94, of Indianapolis, formerly of Boggstown passed away Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Rosegate Village in Indianapolis.
Born May 3, 1918, in Boggstown, she was the daughter of Claude and Maude (Stansifer) Lancaster. She married Walter King on June 27, 1950, and he preceded her in death on August 7, 1973.
Survivors include her daughters, Juanita Keough of Acton and Karen Tillison-Barker of Shaver Lake, California; son, Terry (wife, Judy) King of Wanamaker; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; a niece, Janet Comstock of Fountaintown and a nephew, Meredith “Butch” Kincaid of Shelbyville.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Carl Tillison; daughter, Lois Ann Tillison; grandson, David Keough; granddaughter, Debra Keough; sisters, Dorothy Collins, Glendola Barth, Wanda Kincaid and Hazel Lancaster and a nephew, Larry Barth.
Mrs. King had the Boggstown Telephone Exchange in her home from 1949 to 1956; she owned and operated Glamour Beauty Salon in Boggstown from 1956 to 1973 and she retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1981.
She attended Boggstown Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. King was very family oriented and enjoyed helping her friends. She also enjoyed sewing, crafts and tending to her flower gardens.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Rev. Mark Morningstar officiating.
Interment will be in Boggstown Cemetery.
