Harland Leon Huffman, 76, of New Whiteland, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born October 30, 1937 in Shelby County, the son of Howard and Jesse (Fisher) Huffman. He married, his wife of 56 years, Sharon Joy Sipe, on October 18, 1957, and she survives.
Also surviving are his daughters, Terri Bowman and husband, Lonnie, of Fairland, Cathy Murray and husband, Steve, of Greenwood and Linda Huffman of Whiteland; son, Scott Huffman and wife, Marica, of Greenwood; sister, Phyllis Byrd of Laurel; grandchildren, Brad Huffman, Jared Bowman, Amber Norton, Justin Smith, Jennifer Smith, Heather Huffman and Jessica Huffman; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janice Fox; and a great-grandson, Gavin Huffman.
Harland graduated from Morristown High School in 1955.
He was a member of Morristown Christian Church.
Harland was a truck driver for Conway Central Express, retiring in 2000, after 16 years of service. After retirement, he drove a school bus for 14 years for Clark Pleasant Schools in Whiteland.
He enjoyed fishing, basketball, football and NASCAR.
Harland loved spending time with family and friends.
He also leaves behind his dog, Scooter.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2014 at the funeral home, with Bill Farmer officiating.
Interment will be at a later date at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.
