Harold "Jean" Weinantz, 80 of Franklin passed away Monday, August 13, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove.
Born April 27, 1927, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Roy and Marie (Cochran) Weinantz. He married Mothaleen Nicholson, and she preceded him in death in 1973. He married Laura Grinstead on July 26, 1975, and she survives.
Other survivors include his son, Bruce (wife, Carla) Mann of Arden Hills, Minn.; daughter, Robin (husband, Dave) Vaught of Boggstown; and grandsons, Chad Vaught and Dustin Vaught, both of Boggstown, and Zachary Mann of Arden Hills.
He also was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Weinantz was a farmer and sold farm equipment at Barnett Sales in Flat Rock and Schmidt Implement in Greenfield, retiring in 1988.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Weinantz graduated from Flat Rock High School in 1945.
He was a member of the West Street United Methodist Church, Norristown Masonic Lodge, American Legion of Shelbyville and he was a Flat Rock volunteer firefighter. He also was president of the Citizens Committee in Flat Rock and secretary-treasurer of Flat Rock Cemetery.
Mr. Weinantz was a collector of embossing seals.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m., at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles Stanley, Chaplain of Indiana Masonic Home and Pastor Sandi Martin, Boggstown Presbyterian Church officiating.
Interment will be in Flat Rock Cemetery in Flat Rock with military services conducted by the local military committee.
