Harriet H. Munger, 92, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Morristown Manor in Morristown.
She was born June 21, 1922, in Waverly, West Virginia, the daughter of John C. and Hazel (Ogdin) Hammat. On July 20, 1947, she married her husband of 65 years, Raymond F. “Bud” Munger, and he preceded her in death April 20, 2013.
Survivors include her sons, William R. Munger and wife, Marianne, and Steven J. Munger and wife, Glenda, both of Shelbyville, Jeffrey K. Munger and wife, Gail, and Timothy J. Munger and wife, Becky, both of Greenwood; a daughter, Patricia A. Walker and husband, Keith of Traverse City, Michigan; sister, Grace Curfman of Marion; 14 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edward Hammat, Jack Hammat, George Hammat and Joseph Hammat; and sisters, Julia Fordham and Rachel Joy.
Harriet graduated from Caldwell High School in Caldwell, Ohio and attended Marietta Business College in Marietta, Ohio.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Women’s group and a 50-year member of the Mary Mott Green Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, where she served as Regent.
Harriet retired in 1982. She was formerly secretary for Remington Rand in Marietta, Eli Lilly International in Indianapolis, Adrian Federal Savings and Loan in Adrian, Michigan and Kiwanis International.
She volunteered at Major Hospital for over 25 years.
Harriet enjoyed doing arts and crafts, sewing, her flower gardens, canning and bridge clubs.
She loved being a grandma and great-grandma and vacationing in Michigan. She had several cats.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at the funeral home, with Rev. Bob Campbell officiating.
Interment will be at Liberty Cemetery in Shelby County.
