Harry D. "Bud" Erickson

Harry D. “Bud” Erickson, 78, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus. He was born March 21, 1935, in Logansport, the son of John E. and Vera M. (Selhorn) Erickson. He married Barbara Davis on November 22, 1956, and she survives. Other survivors include his sons, Harry D. “Dave” (wife, Pam) Erickson, Jr. and Gregg E. (wife, Diane) Erickson, both of Shelbyville, Joseph L. (wife, Dannette) Erickson of Edinburgh and Andrew T. (wife, Keri) Erickson of Avon; twin brother, Charles E. “Chuck” (wife, Barbara) Erickson of Logansport; grandchildren, Breanna (husband, Nick) Hogan, Benjamin Erickson, Kyle (wife, Megan) Erickson, Katie Erickson and Brody Erickson; five step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Sam Hogan and Max Hogan; several step-great-grandchildren; and several nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, John E. “Skip” Erickson. Bud graduated from Logansport High School in 1953, attended Butler University for two years and completed his education at Acme Tool and Die School in South Bend. He was a member of Shelbyville Community Church, Eagles Aerie Lodge No. 766, Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Moose Lodge No. 2118 and the Shelbyville Lions Club. Bud formerly worked as a senior designer at Schwitzer Corporation in Indianapolis, retiring in December of 1999, with over 25 years of service. Competing both regionally and nationally, Bud took numerous first place finishes in slalom and finished 4th overall at the Nationals.. In 2005, he, along with his twin brother, “Chuck”, and old brother, “Skip”, were inducted into the Indiana Water Ski Association Hall of Fame. Bud also enjoyed bowling, his dogs and spending time with family. A gathering of friends will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S.
