Hattie M. Sipes

Hattie M. "Pat Montgomery" Sipes, 85, of Anderson, a former Shelbyville resident passed away Monday, January 10, 2011 at Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyville. Born February 13, 1925, in Rush County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Harry and Rexie (Kuhn) Norvell. She married Donald Montgomery on October 12, 1948 in Shelbyville, and he preceded her in death on June 2, 1989. She then married Richard G. Sipes on June 22, 1991, and he preceded her in death on January 3, 2011. Survivors include her son, Randy Montgomery of Speedway; step-sons, Rich Sipes of Berthoud, Colorado and Dave Sipes of Columbus; sister, Audrey Bass of Shelbyville; granddaughter, Heather Clark (husband, Nate) Cohick of Indianapolis; grandson, Ryan (wife, Kristina) Clark, of Shelbyville; great-grandchildren, Zach, Hailey, Danielle, Anthony, Katelyn and Evan; four step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cindy Montgomery Clark; son-in-law, Kenneth Clark; six brothers; and two sisters. Mrs. Sipes lived in Shelbyville the majority of her life, having most recently lived in Anderson. She retired from Hook's Drug Store in 1987 after 25 years of service as supervisor of new store openings. Mrs. Sipes like to travel, watch Indiana high school basketball and especially enjoyed family gatherings. She served as a Cub Scout den mother. Mrs. Sipes was a member of First Christian Church in Shelbyville. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 pm, Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Memorial services will be conducted from 5 to 7 pm, Sunday, February 13, 2011 at the home of Mark and Susie Fischer, 1861 South 375 East, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
