Hazel M. Slifer, 75, of Morristown, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, at her home.
Born June 13, 1930, in Morristown, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Ada (Proctor) Tillison. She married Robert E. "Bob" Slifer on Oct. 10, 1948, and he survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Michael D. (wife, Emma) Slifer of San Antonio, Texas, and Roger A. Slifer of Santa Monica, Calif.; two daughters, Connie E. (husband, Elmer) Carlton and Linda D. (husband, Anthony) Mummert, both of Morristown; one sister, Ruth V. Tillison (husband, John) Slifer of Morristown; brother-in-law, Max Romack; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Rosella Romack.
Mrs. Slifer was a lifelong Morristown resident.
She had been employed at Morristown Insurance Agency for 57 years, retiring in 2003.
Mrs. Slifer was the secretary for Asbury Cemetery from 1977 to 1994 and secretary for Morristown Chamber of Commerce from 1977 to 1989.
She was the salutatorian of the Morristown High School class of 1948.
Mrs. Slifer had been a member of Fountaintown Christian Church since Feb. 17, 1957, where she taught Sunday school for third-, fourth- and fifth-graders from January 1966 to July of 2003, taught Bible school, led songs for Sunday school, was a member of the choir and secretary of the Christian Women's Fellowship.
She also was a member of Rushville Roadrunners Square Dance Club and Fireball Square Dance Club, in Acton.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown; and from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Fountaintown Christian Church, Post Office Box 87, Fountaintown, IN 46130.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Michael Smith officiating.
Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery, in Morristown.
