Helen L. (Miller) DeCoursey, 94, of Greenfield died Monday, March 17, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital and Health Center in Indianapolis.
Born February 12, 1914, in Prescott, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Anna (Schaff) Miller. She married M. Wayne DeCoursey on February 24, 1935, and he preceded her in death on December 31, 1978.
Survivors include her son, Byron W. (wife, Nikki) DeCoursey of Sharps Chapel, Tenn.; daughters, Diane L. (husband, Bill) Trappen of Fallbrook, Calif., Joyce (husband, James) Mescall and Lynda (husband, Jerry) Berkholz, both of Indianapolis, Barbara (husband, Michael) Rodgers of Grove City, Ohio, Ladonna Coleman of Fullington, Calif., Karen (husband, Thomas) Walters of Madison, Ala., and Lynne Campbell of Cape Coral, Fla.; 21 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Paul Miller, Dick Miller and Eddie Miller; and sisters, Katherine Blackburn and Betty Vesque.
Mrs. DeCoursey had been employed in sales with the J.C. Penney Co., in Indianapolis for 20 years, retiring in 1979.
She graduated from Waldron High School in 1932.
Mrs. DeCoursey was a former member of Holy Spirit and St. Simmons Catholic Church.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and quilting and loved to play cards and travel.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 4218 E. Michigan Road, with the Rev. Paul Landwerlen officiating.
Interment will be in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery in Shelby County.
