Helen Kuhn

November 28, 1916 — February 10, 2007

Helen Kuhn, 90, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, at the home of her daughter. Born Nov. 28, 1916, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of William and Lula Mae (Perry) Stader. She married Louis Kuhn on Dec. 31, 1943, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 1994. Survivors include her daughter, Vicky Davis of Shipshewana; sisters, Fay Wilson of Shelbyville and Ruth Queen of California; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, William Stader, Lucille Hirschauer, Anna Marie Baker, Charles Stader and Betty Lou Leffler. Mrs. Kuhn began teaching school in North Dakota and then returned to Shelby County, where she taught for 46 years. She graduated from Ball State University. Mrs. Kuhn was a member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority and Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Society. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Broadway Chapel, 232 W. Broadway St. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dennis Hirschauer officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Shelbyville or Hospice at Goshen General Hospital, in care of Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Chapels, 819 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.
