Helen M. Hamner, 87, of Shelbyville died Friday, May 25, 2007, at Major Hospital.
Born July 13, 1919, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Harry and Goldie (Collins) Sutherland. She married Wilbur D. Hamner on Aug. 20, 1938, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 1985.
Survivors include her sons, Gary D. (wife, Millie) Hamner of Waldron and Larry D. Hamner of Flat Rock; daughters Darlene K. Rowe of Fairland and Patricia A. (husband, Terry) Stevenson of Panama City Beach, Fla.; sisters, Mildred Young of Shelbyville and Betty Reno of Shirley; and grandchildren, Nancy Kay Yarling, Robert A. "Deuce" Rowe, Grant D. Hamner, Gretchen Delay, Tonia Cunningham and Keysha M. Hamner.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter; and brother, Harry "Jack" Sutherland.
Mrs. Hamner had been a resident of Washington Township for 32 years and moved to Shelbyville in 1990.
She had been employed by Wal-Mart from 1986 to the early 1990s.
Mrs. Hamner was a member of Lewis Creek Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Gerald Jordan officiating.
Interment will be in Lewis Creek Baptist Cemetery in Shelby County.
