Helen Marie Lorenz

Helen Marie Lorenz, 96, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at her residence. She was born April 22, 1919, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Russell P. and Grace (Wheeler) Fleming. She married George Joseph Lorenz on November 23, 1944, and he preceded her in death on September 7, 2012. Helen is survived by her sons, Richard Wayne Lorenz and wife, Nancy, of Spencer, and Robert Keith Lorenz and wife, Gloria, of Naperville, Illinois; and grandsons, Jason Alexander Lorenz and Bryan Michael Lorenz. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Phyllis J. Fleming; and an infant brother, Paul Fleming. Helen graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1937. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Unique Club and Tri Kappa. Helen volunteered as treasurer of the Major Hospital Gift Shop for many years. She also volunteered at St. Joseph Catholic School. She enjoyed being with her friends and playing bridge. Helen was a fabulous pie baker and gave many pies as gifts. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville, with the rosary recited at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St. in Shelbyville. Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E.
