Helen Tobin of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Gulf Coast Hospital in Fort Myer, Fla.
Born in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Harry and Bernice (Bowlby) McLane. She married Morris "Mort" Tobian on April 5, 1942, and he survives.
Other survivors include her sons, The Rev. John (wife, Lydia) Tobian of Grand Rapids, Mich., Dr. Jim (wife, Carol) Tobin of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Bob (wife, Debbie) Tobian of Shelbyville; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Tobin was a teacher for Shelby Central Schools Corp. until the mid 1980s. She later sold real estate and worked for Sandy Sirkus.
She graduated from Shelbyville High School and Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Mo.
Mrs. Tobin was a baptized and longest standing member of First Presbyterian Church and a member of Tri Kappa sorority.
Private graveside services will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on April 3 at First Presbyterian Church, 124 W. Broadway St.
