Henry L. Mohr Jr.

Henry L. "Junior" Mohr Jr., 71, of Fairland, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006. Born Oct. 23, 1934, in Greenwood, he was the son of Henry L. and Alma R. (Hamilton) Mohr Sr. He married Norita Siefert on Nov. 17, 1957, and she survives. Other survivors include two sons, Steven (wife, Lori) Mohr of Fortville and Bryan (wife, Julie) Mohr of Greentown; one daughter, Cynthia Mohr of Indianapolis; three sisters, Wilma Jean Newhouse of Michigan, Norma Ruth Trimnell of Flat Rock and Betty Jo Crockett of Kentucky; and seven grandchildren, Brandon Mohr, Christopher Mohr, Zachary Mohr, Jessica Staletovich, Benjamin Staletovich, Zeke Werden and Shelby Hancock. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter, Pamela Marie Mohr; and one infant sister, Neva Jane Mohr. Mr. Mohr was a resident of Moral Township for most of his life. He had been employed with the Indiana State Police Department in the engineering section for 38-1/2 years and was a lifelong farmer. He retired in December of 1996. Mr. Mohr was a recipient of the Sagamore of the Wabash. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Indiana National Guard. Mr. Mohr graduated in 1952 from Moral Township High School, where he played basketball and was named most valuable player of a Shelby County Basketball Tournament. He was a member of Fairland F&AM. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Broadway Chapel, 232 W. Broadway St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Doug Newhouse officiating. Interment will be in Fairland Cemetery in Fairland.
