Hester Alice Petty, 87, of St. Paul, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2008, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born October 31, 1920, in Holton, she was the daughter of John Patrick and Ruth (Rockfeller) Lawless. She married Cass "Tack" Petty in May of 1959, and he preceded her in death on June 20, 1989.
Survivors include her daughters, Susan (husband, Kent) Kaster of Shelbyville, Cassandra Whitten of Indianapolis and Nancy Meers of Noblesville; son, Dennis (wife, Karen) Shuppert of St. Paul; brother Robert Lawless of Nashville; sister, Joanne Wade of Taylorsville; granddaughter, Nannette Tichenor, Bradley Shuppert, Abby Whitten and Casey Meers; and great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Joshua, Paxton and Patrick.
She also was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Petty was a lifelong resident of St. Paul.
She was a homemaker, artist and musician.
Mrs. Petty graduated from St. Paul High School in 1938, and attended Ball State University.
She was a member of Hobby Nobby Club, St. Paul Senior Citizens and a local women's euchre club.
Mrs. Petty loved crafts, attended auctions, did home decorating, refinished furniture, loved to play euchre and was an avid reader.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Union Chapel Church, 4647 N. County Road 700 West, St. Paul.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with Dee Hogg officiating.
Interment will be in Union Chapel Cemetery in St. Paul.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
