Hester Anne Hale, 81, of Indianapolis passed away Sunday, November 30, 2008.
Born November 4, 1927, in Shelbyville she was the daughter of Robert L. and Hester (Demaree) Hale.
Survivors include her nieces, Mary Ann (husband, Dean) Beenken of Indianapolis and Susan (husband, Gilbert) Hirschy of Fort Wayne; and nephews, Bill Hale of Indianapolis and Tom (wife, Kelly) Hale of Avon.
Ms. Hale authored several books on local history and was a volunteer at The President Benjamin Harrison Home for many years.
She graduated from Earlham College and earned master degrees from Middlebury College in Vermont and Butler University.
Ms. Hale was a member of North United Methodist Church and active in numerous civic organizations.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. on December 10 in the chapel at North United Methodist Church, 3808 N. Meridian St. in Indianapolis.
Private graveside services will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
