Huston D. Thompson, 72, of Morristown died Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at Morristown Manor in Morristown, where he had been a resident since August of 2006.
Born April 17, 1938, in Rushville, he was the son of Charlie and Myrtle Thompson. He married Wanda Bryant Cummins on Oct. 19, 1992, and she survives.
Other survivors include sons, J.C. (Teri) Asbury and David Asbury, both of Indianapolis; daughters, Krisi Asbury and Meredith Kendall, both of Indianapolis; stepson, David (Pauline) Dean of Hammond; stepdaughters, Rebecca Dean of Greenfield and Melody Watson and Valerie (Josh) Roose, both of Morristown; brothers, Albert Thompson of Silverdale, Wash., and Kenneth Thompson of Milroy; sisters, Sue Thompson and Bonnie Foreman, both of Rushville, and Shirley Watts of Shelbyville; and several grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Thompson; sisters, Anna Mayse, Bessie Bowling and Martha Berry; and daughter, Dawn Asbury.
Mr. Thompson had been employed as a foreman with Conrail for 32 years, retiring in 1995. He had also worked at the Indianapolis Board of Trades and as a dance instructor at Arthur Murray Dance Studio.
He was a U.S. veteran in the National Guard from 1960 to 1963.
Mr. Thompson was a member of the Morristown Church of the Nazarene.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Morristown Church of the Nazarene, 544 E. Main St. in Morristown.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, with Dr. Howard Robbins officiating.
Cremation will follow the memorial service.
