Inez Artie (Kendall) Barlow

December 15, 1914 — April 12, 2016

Inez Artie (Kendall) Barlow passed away on April 12, 2016 at home, from natural causes. She was 101 years old. Inez was born on December 15, 1914 in Shelby County, to Streight and Opal (Mitchell) Kendall. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Ralph Wayne Kendall, James Arthur Kendall and Allen Delos Kendall; her sisters, Vivian Delores Fuchs and Reva Jean Kendall; an infant son, Harold Eugene, who died at birth; and her husband, Dale Franklin Barlow. After graduating from Manilla High School, she married Dale Barlow on September 14, 1935. Their son, Kenneth Dale Barlow and wife, Sharlene, of Marshall, North Carolina survive. She was the proud grandmother of four granddaughters; Debbie Cameron and husband, Mike, New Boston, Michigan, Dianne McNew of Shelbyville, Donna Knox and husband, Glenn, of Ocala, Florida, and Darlene Janis of Loganville, Georgia. She had nine great-grandchildren; Kelly Coan and husband, Jim, Michael Cameron and wife, Tiffany, Reghan McNew, Kerri Jacobson and husband, Troy, Ashley Cleary, Jadd Knox, Tiya Knox, John Janis, and Daylon Janis. She had eleven great-great grandchildren; Alex Coan, Rory Coan, Aria Cameron, Caydon Richmond, Celsey Richmond, Troy Jacobson, Tylar Jacobson, Tristin Jacobson, Braelyn Cleary, McKenna Cleary, and Zayden Knox. Inez lived on the Sheppard farm on State Road 44 for 55 years. For several years, in the winter, when they weren’t farming, she worked in the cafeteria at Hendricks Elementary School. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and cooking – she was a really good cook! Most of all, she enjoyed her family. She and Dale retired from farming in 1983. In 1990, they moved to Pompano Beach, Florida. They moved back to Shelbyville in 2006. In 2008, after Dale passed away, she moved to Michigan to live with her granddaughter. She was a member of Bengal Christian Church for over 60 years and a member of the Ladies Aid Society at the church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S.
