Iva Flora Rowsey

Iva Flora Rowsey, 91, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006, at Ashford Place Health Campus. Born Feb. 18, 1914, in Lincoln County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Cynthia Alice (Adkins) Baker. She married Robert R. Rowsey on Sept. 24, 1932, and he preceded her in death on June 1, 1990. Survivors include two daughters, Sally (husband, Charles) Banschbach of Shelbyville and Anita (husband, Dennis) Creed of Glendale, Ariz.; one son, Stephen (wife, Sharon) Rowsey of Shelbyville; four grandchildren, Scott Ferson of Long Island, N.Y., Kindal Ferson of Waldron, Sarah Brooks and Ashley Rowsey, both of Shelbyville; and three great-grandchildren, Michael Campbell, Kenny Campbell and Karen Campbell. She also was preceded in death by four sisters, Bertha Osborn, Verel Taylor, Vergie Lucas and Myrtle Horn; and one brother, Alvie Baker. Mrs. Rowsey moved to Shelbyville from Lincoln County in 1937. She had been a bookkeeper for the former J.G. DePrez store, The Shelbyville News and Foto Krafters, retiring in 1998. Mrs. Rowsey had attended Marshall University, in West Virginia. She was a member of Lewis Creek Baptist Church, Business and Professional Women and Zonta. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, Freeman Family Funeral Homes, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Harvey Weaver officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
