Iva Louise Bernard, 89, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015 at her residence.
She was born November 29, 1925 in Rolan, Cinton County, Kentucky, the daughter of Will Clyde and Dona Bell (Williams) Wilborn. On December 11, 1943, she married her husband of 57 years, Joseph Green Bernard, and he preceded her in death on July 4, 2001.
Mrs. Bernard is survived by her sons, Wendell Bernard and wife, Vicki, and Daryl Bernard and wife, Sharon, both of Shelbyville; daughter, Cheryl Clark of Flat Rock; sister, Maureen Smith and husband, Louie, of Louisville, Kentucky; daughter-in-law, Pam Bernard of Shelbyville; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ronnie Bernard; sister, Georgie Claborn; brother, Omer Wilborn; and son-in-law, Jim Clark.
Mrs. Bernard was a member of the First Christian Church in Albany, Kentucky.
She and her husband formerly owned and operated numerous dry cleaners. Later, she worked at Plymate, Inc. as a seamstress.
Mrs. Bernard enjoyed quilting, making over 100 quilts. She was also a great cook and she loved to dance and fish.
She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. (Central Time) Friday, February 27, 2015 at Lucinda Bernard Cemetery, Highway 619 in Russell Springs, Kentucky, with Pastor Bodie Emerson officiating.
Local services are entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
