J. David Miller, 58, of Shelbyville passed away Friday, February 20, 2009 at Major Hospital.
Born June 1, 1950, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Jarold Wade and Patricia Ann (Cole) Miller. He married Rita S. Maples, and she survives.
Other survivors include his father of Fairland; sons, Jason D. (wife, Sarah) Miller and Daniel J. (wife, Sysily) Miller, both of New Palestine, Joshua R. (wife, Traci) Miller of Indianapolis and John E. Miller of Shelbyville; stepdaughter, Jessica Farmer of Shelbyville; brothers, Robert (wife, Peggy) Miller of Fairland, Bruce (wife, Karen) Miller and Chuck (wife, Kathleen) Miller, both of Shelbyville; sisters, Mickey (husband, Mike) Beck of Lawrenceburg, Ruthann Miller of Indianapolis and Leesa (husband, Tim) Sanidias of Bloomington, Ill; grandchildren, Sadie Miller, Jonah Miller, Whitney Miller, Sydney Miller, Ryan Miller, Ashley Heagy, Makayla Heagy and Robert Heagy.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Mr. Miller was a construction worker for 36 years.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, honorably discharged in 1975.
Mr. Miller graduated from Triton Central High School in 1968.
He was a member of New Life United Methodist Church in Fairland, Operating Engineer Local No. 103 for 36 years and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Whiteland.
Mr. Miller loved his grandchildren and working outdoors.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Carmony-Ewing Chapel of Freeman Family Funeral Homes, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerry Crouse officiating.
Interment will be in Fairland Cemetery in Fairland, with Military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard.
