Jack Wayne Hardebeck

Jack Wayne Hardebeck, 65, of Shelbyville passed away Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Waldron Health and Living Center. Born February 7, 1946, in Indianapolis, he was the son of James and Marcella "Sally" (Wilde) Hardebeck. He married Janeen "Jan" DeArmond on January 14, 1967, and she preceded him in death on April 4, 2011. Survivors include his children, Debora (husband, William) Guffey of Arlington, Jefrey (wife, Laura) Hardebeck of Gwynneville and Tamara (fiance', Jody Bailey) Hardebeck of Shelbyville; brother, James Hardebeck; sister, Nancy Schalagen of Beech Grove; grandchildren, Eddie Guffey, Courtney Hardebeck, Destiny Hardebeck, Nicholas Hix, Kaleigh Hix and Brennan Bailey; and great-grandchildren, Cameron Bell, Serenity Bell and Jameson Hix. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Hardebeck graduated from Emmerich Manual High School and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He had been employed by Amtrak as a carman welder for 24 years, retiring in 2003. Mr. Hardebeck was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and of ABATE. Jack enjoyed camping and riding motorcycles, particularly with the All-Harley Drag Racing Association, with his family and especially his son, Jeff. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 1 pm, Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the funeral home, with Father Leon Reuter officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, with graveside military rites conducted by the local veterans. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Awareness Association of Central Indiana Inc., 4755 Kingsway Drive, Suite # 333, Indianapolis, Indiana 46205.
