Jack Wilcoxon, 77, of New Palestine passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Morning Pointe Assisted Living in Franklin.
Born January 16, 1935, in Gwynneville, he was the son of Wayne Washington and Nellie T. (Talbert) Wilcoxon. He married Florence E. Hinant on February 3, 1957, and she preceded him in death on October 8, 2008.
Survivors include his sons, David W. (wife, Chandy) Wilcoxon of Trafalgar and Douglas W. (companion, Jeanette Jones) Wilcoxon of Indianapolis; daughter, Devon W. (husband, Kim) Harris of Shelbyville; sisters, Mary "Joan" Addison of Gwynneville and Carolyn "Jean" DeHart of Inverness, Florida; grandchildren, Corbin Benton Harris and Holly Ellen Harris; sister-in-law, Betty Jo Hocker of McComb, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert Wayne Wilcoxon.
Mr. Wilcoxon graduated from Morristown High School in 1952 and attended Butler University and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was formerly a truck driver for Klosterman Bakery and the former owner and operator of the Tobacco Plantation in Indianapolis, retiring in 2007.
Mr. Wilcoxon was a member of Gwynneville Christian Church and of the Morristown Masonic Lodge.
He loved to play euchre.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2012 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown and from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the Gwynneville Christian Church in Gwynneville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Pastor Kevin Powell officiating.
Interment will be in Hanover Cemetery.
