Jackie Lee Myers, 83, of Fairland, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015 at his residence. He was born April 13, 1932, in Paoli, the son of Gerald and Lois (Lane) Myers. He married Emily Hendricks, and she preceded him in death on January 8, 2007. Jackie is survived by his daughters, Kristina Dabney of Shelbyville, and Connie Eckrich and husband, Jeff, of Choctaw, Oklahoma; a brother, Lawrence Myers and wife, Anita, of Paoli; grandchildren, Dustin, Lore Ann and Johnny; and great-grandchildren, William and Alexis. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Jackie was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He attended New Life United Methodist Church. Jackie retired as a heavy equipment operator for Mid Central Operating Engineering with over 40 years of service. He loved to paint pictures and restore old pocket knives. A gathering of friends will be from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Ben Biggs officiating. Inurnment will be at London Cemetery in Shelby County. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the local military committee. Memorial contributions may be made to Franciscan St. Francis Hospice Services, 8414 Franciscan Lane, Indianapolis, IN 46237.
