Jacob A. "Jake" Emrich

September 23, 1917 — February 2, 2011

Jacob A. "Jake" Emrich, 93, of Columbus, a former Shelbyville resident, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2011. Born September 23, 1917, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Jacob A. and Lettie (Scott) Emrich. He married Faye L. Faulkner on May 7, 1943, and she survives. Other survivors include his sons, Phillip S. (wife, Monita) Emrich of Columbus and Roger D. (wife, Joyce) Emrich of Indianapolis; granddaughter, Jennifer (husband, Matt) Myers of Shelbyville and Jeremy Emrich of St. Paul; and great-grandsons, Evan Emrich and Austin Myers. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Henry Scott Emrich; and great-grandson, Gage Emrich. Mr. Emrich graduated from Flat Rock High School in 1936. He was a farmer in Shelby County and worked for D & S Farm Implement Co. in Shelbyville until retiring in 1979. Mr. Emrich was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church. He lived to play shuffleboard and fish. Visitation will be from 10 am to 1 pm, Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 1 pm, Saturday, with Pastor Bryan Trotter officiating. Interment will be in Miller Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, 4449 S. Smithland Road, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
