Jacqueline Deloris “Jackie” Lummis, 84, of Shelbyville, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyville, with her family at her side.
She was born August 14, 1930, in Morristown, the daughter of Melbourne and Miriam (Lines) McGinnis. She married Milan Lummis on February 4, 1950, and he preceded her in death on July 16, 2006.
Jackie is survived by her son, Lawrence “Larry” Lummis and wife, Brenda, of Shelbyville, daughter, Laura Prosser of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Dustin Prosser, Andrew Prosser, Christian Prosser, Jon Randall and Jason Randall; great-grandchildren, Addyson, Alex and Jon; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, James McGinnis; and sister, Marilyn Parrott.
Jackie graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1948.
She was a member of First Christian Church, the Ladies of the Eagles, Ladies of the Moose, American Legion Auxiliary and JayShees.
Jackie previously worked at the Shelbyville News as a proofreader. She was also a seamstress and worked at a local fabric store.
She had been a volunteer at Major Hospital.
Jackie loved to dance.
She also leaves behind her granddog, Lilly Lou Lummis.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
