James Franklin Moore, 72, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at Regency Place, in Greenwood.
Born Sept. 1, 1933, in Albany, Ky., he was the son of the late Ernest and Virgil Moore. He married Nancy A. Poe on Aug. 21, 1960, and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Robert Moore of Muncie and Kenneth (wife, Shannon) Moore of Shelbyville; one daughter, Victoria Hall of Indianapolis; one sister, Dorothy Rohr of Greenfield; and four grandchildren, Stephen Hall, Devin Moore, Chris Moore and Taylor Moore.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, David Hall.
Mr. Moore retired from the City of Shelbyville Street and Sanitation Department after 20 years of service. He previously had retired from the 152nd Infantry National Guard Unit at Camp Atterbury, where he served for 13 years. Before that he had served in the National Guard in Greenfield and with the U.S. Air Force, with a total of 21 years of military service.
He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Moore graduated in 1951 from Maxwell High School.
He was a member of the American Legion.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Broadway Chapel, 232 W. Broadway St.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. James Farnsley officiating.
Interment will be in Miller Cemetery, in Shelby County, will military rites conducted by the military.
