James Floyd "Jimmy" Asher, 90, of Shelbyville passed away Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Heritage House Convalescent Center.
Born August 12, 1919 in Johnson County, Indiana, he was the son of Christopher and Clara (Tucker) Asher.
Survivors include brother, Christopher Asher of Shelbyville; sister, Esther Stewart of Needham and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lester Asher, Bill Asher, Charles Asher, Robert Asher, Henry Asher, Virgil Asher and Gene Asher; and sister, Dorothy Hubbard.
Mr. Asher was a lifelong farmer, who lived both in Shelby and Johnson Counties.
In his younger years he played basketball.
Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Robert Campbell officiating.
Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Garden.
