James I. "Jim" Miller, 77, of Morristown passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at his residence.
Born June 20, 1933 in Shelby County, Indiana, he was the son of James "Max" and Olive (Millis) Miller. He married Janet L. Tracy on August 30, 1953, and she preceded him in death on January 15, 2003.
Survivors include his son, Trent (wife, Melissa) Miller of Morristown; daughter, Katherine Miller of Morristown; sister, Mona Miller of Crown Point; grandson, Brandon Miller of Spiceland; granddaughters, Lacey Miller Locker and Brittany Munden, both of Greenfield and Abbigail Miller of Morristown; and great-grandchildren, Matthew, Katelyn, Dakota and Lindsay.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Bill Miller and Bobby Miller.
Mr. Miller was employed from 1969 to 1997 at Williams Industries as a die maker, and he was formerly a farmer.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Mr. Miller was past commander of the Morristown American Legion and has served in many capacities at the state level, including state commander in 2000-2001.
He graduated from Morristown High School in 1951.
Mr. Miller was named Young Farmer of the Year in 1967.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Friday, January 28, 2011 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St., in Morristown.
Funeral services will be at 11 am Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the funeral home, with Pastor Nick Keaton officiating.
Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery.
