James K. Cole, 80 of Shelby County passed away on February 20, 2008 at his residence after an extended illness.
Born July 25, 1927, in Shelby County, he was the so of George W. and Hazel (Carter) Cole. He married Joan Rouse on February 28, 1948, and she survives.
Other survivors include his daughters, Cindy Clark of Shelby County and Carla (husband, Ronnie) Markley of Shelbyville; sons, James T. (wife, Patty) Cole of Shelbyville and David Allan (wife, Billie) Cole of Kingman, Ariz.; sisters, Betty Eatridge of Spencer and Carolyn Hilton of Jamestown; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded indeath by his parents; brother, Carter Cole; and grandson, Jeff Sullivan.
Mr. Cole was a lifelong Shelby County farmer and had also been a truck driver for Renner's Express in Indianapolis.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Cole attended Morristown High School.
He was a member of the American Legion and Masonic Lodge, both in Morristown, and the Scottish Rite in Indianapolis.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with Masonic rites conducted at 7:30 p.m., at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Clarence Hubbard officiating.
Interment will be in Bennett Cemetery, with military rites conducted by local veteran organizations.
