James R. Gephart

James R. Gephart, 84, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born October 17, 1931, in Hanover Township, Shelby County, the son of Clarance J. and Lillie (Bogue) Gephart. On June 2, 1951, he married his wife of 65 years, Martha Shoaf, and she survives. James is also survived by his daughter, Peggy J. Hodson of Shelbyville; brother, Kenneth Gephart of Moscow; sisters, Barbara Branson of Rays Crossing and Judy Guinn of Georgia; grandchildren, Sy Matthew Stohry, Bobbie Lynn Vucelich, Seth Thomas Stohry, Joanna Marie Long, Joshua Nathan Haehl, Jeremy James Gephart, Jamie Lynn Wyatt and Jacob James Gephart; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca L. Tracy; and a son, James R. “Jimmy” Gephart. James graduated from Morristown High School in 1949. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. James retired from Ready Mix in 1993. Private family services will be observed. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelby County Public Library, 57 W.
