James Walter Hardin, 67, of Flat Rock passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2006 at his home.
Born May 27, 1940, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Dudley D. and Edith M. (Clark) Hardin. He married Karen Schweigart, and she preceded him in death. He married Marilyn K. Boggs, and she preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughter, Susanne Hardin-Wilson of Fishers; son, William D. Hardin; stepdaughters, Mindy Hokey of Indianapolis and Theresa Billings of Shelbyville; stepsons, Scott Hood and Gary Hood, both of Rushville; brothers, George (wife, Carol) Hardin and Dave (wife, Rosalie) Hardin, both of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Collin Wilson of Fishers and Megan Hardin of Manilla; and nine stepgrandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Sullivan and Rose Marie Hardin; and brother Bill Hardin, Jack Hardin and Doug Hardin.
Mr. Hardin had been an inspector for Rolls Royce at General Motors Allison Division, retiring on March 1, 1993.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, last serving in 1964.
Mr. Hardin graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1958.
He was a member of Rushville Nazarene Church, United Auto Workers Local No. 933 and Shelbyville American Legion Post No. 70.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor B. J. Justice officiating.
Interment will be in East Hill Cemetery in Rushville.
