James Wayne Fair

James Wayne Fair, 63, of Shelbyville passed away Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Methodist Hospital. Born August 25, 1947, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Wade H. Fair and Martha (Guffin) Belton. He married Becky Brown on October 16, 1999, and she survives. Other survivors include his mother of Waldron; his daughter, Bridgett (husband, Tony) Melloh of Pleasant View; son, Blake A.W. Fair of Shelbyville; step-daughters, Jamie (husband, Noah) Shabman of Franklin and Kristi B. Evans of Indianapolis; brother, Jack (wife, Marsha) Fair of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Rita Fair of Fort Myers, Florida; and grandchildren, Tyler Melloh, Hailey Boger, Kaia Shabman and Alex Shabman. He was preceded in death by his father. Mr. Fair graduated from Franklin Central High School in Indianapolis in 1966 and had lived in Shelbyville since 1995. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. Mr. Fair retired from Navistar in 1995 after 25 years of service and was currently employed by Resource Residential. He was a memberof Little Blue River Baptist Church, the rocky Ford (Ky.) Masonic Lodge, for over 25 years; and a past member of the New Palestine Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Fair loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday and 10 to 11 am Thursday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 11:30 am Thursday at Little Blue River Baptist Church, 3515 North 500 East, in Shelbyville. Interment will be in Bennett Cemetery.
