Jan P. Davidson

Jan P. Davidson, 72, of Shelbyville passed away Sunday, February 6, 2011 at her residence. Born July 27, 1938, in Greenville, South Carolina, she was the daughter of M. L. Powell Jr. and Anna (Jahnz) Powell. She married Peter Stewart Davidson, Sr. on June 4, 1960, and he preceded her in death on March 25, 1995. Survivors include her sons, Pete (wife, Teresa) Davidson of Lexington, Kentucky and Mike (wife, Debbie) Davidson of Brownsburg; daughter, Dawn (husband, Jeff) Thomas of Shelbyville; brother, Lee (wife, Bonnie) Powell of Greer, South Carolina; sister, Kay (husband, Charles) Truluck of Charleston, South Carolina; grandsons, Jeffrey (wife, Jamie) Davidson, Ben Davidson and Sam Davidson; and granddaughters, Erica Thomas and Heather Thomas. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and step-mother, Dorothy Powell. Mrs. Davidson graduated from Greenville (S.C.) High School in 1957 and from Medical University of South Carolina in 1960. She had been director of nursing at Franklin United Methodist Home and retired in 1997 as school nurse for the Greenwood school system. Mrs. Davidson was a member of Greenwood Wesleyan Church and attended Town and Country Christian Church. She loved sports, enjoyed reading and was passionate about and supportive of the youth at Town and Country Christian Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. and from 10 to 11 am Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Town and County Christian Church, 2133 South Tucker Road, Shelbyville, Indiana. Funeral services will be at 11 am at the church, with Pastors Don Bennett and Ian Farnsley officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
